Lauren Singer's IG

Lauren Singer is the founder and CEO of trashisfortossers and Package Free, a zero waste shop located in New York. Lauren's Instagram account is a treasure trove of tips, tricks, and information about living a low-waste life. She posts about her own journey in reducing her trash output, as well as general tips for cutting down on waste in your everyday life. Singer’s focus is on reducing consumption and waste, whether it’s food or other products.

She encourages her followers to cook at home, shop secondhand, bring their own bags and reusable containers when they go out, compost, recycle, and avoid single-use items like plastic water bottles and straws. She also discusses topics like period waste reduction, Tampon Tax (yes, this is real and it’s ridiculous), reusable pads and cups, how to make your own cleaning products, and where to find bulk items near you.

She believes that one person can make a difference and that, by doing so, we can change the world. In an interview with GlobalCitizen.org, she said, “I started Package Free to make those really simple swaps easy for people — switching from a plastic toothbrush to a bamboo one, from shampoo packaged in plastic to a shampoo bar," Singer stated. "We have alternatives for just about anything that you would need to buy packaged."

Alden Wicker'S IG

Ever looked at the material composition tag on your clothing and wondered what all those polysyllabic words actually mean? Or how about trying to find out whether that new "sustainable" fashion brand is actually greenwashing you? From the most glamorous influencers to the glossiest fashion magazines, everyone's talking about how we need to reform the global fashion industry. But it's still hard to find good advice about reducing your wardrobe's impact on the planet. That's where EcoCult comes in.

EcoCult's website and Instagram page cover the intersection of fashion and sustainability. They believe that looking good and doing good for the planet are not mutually exclusive pursuits. Its mission is to provide reliable, honest, science-based information about sustainable fashion so that consumers can make more informed choices about the clothes they buy and the brands they support.

3.@ExtinctionRebellion XR

Extinction Rebellion's IG

Extinction Rebellion is a global environmental movement with the stated aim of using nonviolent civil disobedience to compel government action on climate change and biodiversity loss.

The group has been active in over eighty countries and has caused disruptions in major cities such as London, New York City, Berlin, Vancouver, and Amsterdam. The group's logo is an hourglass inside of a circle, representing the finite amount of time we have to take action on climate change before it's too late.

Extinction Rebellion is a group of people from all walks of life who have come together to try and change the future. They recognize that the climate and ecological crisis is a huge issue that needs to be addressed. The problem is that humans are naturally short-sighted and often prioritize immediate benefits over long-term consequences. This means that the climate crisis is often seen as someone else's problem.

However, the rebels understand that this is not just an issue for the world's poor, but for everyone. Eventually, this slow-moving freight train of a crisis will break down our economy and interconnected systems. That's why they're taking action. They want to raise awareness and force those in power to take responsibility for this global problem.

The Extinction Rebellion Instagram account is a mix of educational content and calls to action. They post about the science behind climate change, the problems caused by our reliance on fossil fuels, and the need for systemic change to avert disaster. They also share personal stories from people who have been affected by climate change, as well as information about upcoming events and rallies.

4.@Tenways_ebike

Tenway's IG

Did you know that by switching to an e-bike for your commute, you could reduce your carbon emissions output by 750kg per year? Pretty impressive, right?

TENWAYS, a Sustainability Champion!, is working hard to make green commuting accessible to everyone, and their efforts are truly making a difference. So far, they have replaced 2.4 million kilometers of car journeys with low-carbon e-bike commuting - talk about reducing congestion and pollution levels!

What's even more impressive is that TENWAYS' manufacturing processes are designed to minimize environmental impact. For example, they use high-quality water-based paint which doesn't pollute the environment as much as conventional paints do. Their waste gas and water discharge also meet the highest environmental emissions standards.

Not to mention, their in-house development and super-efficient supply chain help reduce miles traveled in the production of the finished product. All of these factors contribute to making TENWAYS a company that you can feel good about supporting.
